General Questions

What is FSA Schools Portal?
FSA Schools Portal is the Department of Education's Federal Student Aid Portal. It provides a gateway to all of the FSA sites a school uses, along with a calendar of events and FSA News headlines.

What is My FSA?
My FSA is a customizable area of the FSA Schools Portal. By signing up for a My FSA account, you will be able to choose which FSA site links you see, as well as add your own bookmarks to the list of links.

What can I customize in the FSA Schools Portal?
If you create a My FSA account by clicking on the "Register" link in the My FSA button on the FSA Schools Portal, you can quickly and easily customize your FSA Links panel by choosing which links you see, and/or adding your own bookmarks.

Can I customize the appearance of the FSA Schools Portal?
No. You cannot change the colors or the layout of the panels in this version of the FSA Schools Portal.

What browsers does the FSA Schools Portal support?
Recommended Browsers for the FSA Schools Portal are Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 4.01 Service Pack 2 or higher and Netscape Communicator Version 4.7 or higher. AOL and Lynx text reader browsers are not supported. Browsers must have JavaScript support turned on to work properly. MyFSA pages will only display in browsers that support Java Applets.


Problems Logging In/User Issues

What do I do if I forgot my username/password?
If you forget your username or password, contact the FSA Customer Service Call Center. You can send them an e-mail by clicking on the Got A Question? button in the Toolbar, or you can call 1-800-433-7327.

Can I change my user information?
In this version of the Portal, you can only change your password. Future versions will allow you to change all your user information.

I bookmarked my customized My FSA page. Why won't it load when I click on it?
It is Department of Education policy not to use “cookies” on our websites.  Without a “cookie”, the website doesn’t know who you are.  Therefore, you must log into “My FSA” so that the website can identify you and return your customized selections.


Other Issues

Optimal Browser Settings
The optimal screen resolution for viewing the FSA Schools Portal is 1024 by 768 pixels.

Problems using email links
If your email account has not been setup, or if you are not using Outlook email, you will get an error message such as "Your email address has not been specified" when you click on an email link.

Problems using the browser back button
When you select a link that goes to another website, a new browser window will be opened.  To return, simply close the additional browser window.  The back button on your browser will not return you.
